Ever since 1972, the Art Museum of South Texas and its glorious structure, its famous white walls has been a major landmark in Corpus Christi. This glorious museum was designed by famous Philip Johnson. It has three floors and those windows present you an awesome view of the Corpus Christi Bay.
In 2006 an addition was made to this beautiful structure, doubling its size by adding spacious gallery, special museum store, a café and a roof top pyramid. The Art Museum of South Texas provides a vast variety of educational workshops, programs for adults, families, kids & school.
The staff at the museum adds to the attraction as they showcase exhibitions with lectures, talks through the gallery, present dance and music performances. In the museum they provide classes in printmaking, drawing, painting and other different media are provided in summers to children and also many classes including various exhibitions are there to offer for adults all along the year.
Alongside these exhibitions and various educational programs, this museum has slowly but surely collected some over 400 artefacts and objects. This Art Museum of South Texas has become a member of the American Association of Museums, the Texas Association of Museums, the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce, the American Federation of Arts and the Corpus Christi Arts Council. |
