Mustang Island State Park has forty eight small sites which are well equipped with water and electricity facilities. Each site has easy go through/access towards the beach side. These sites are also used for camping purposes. The whole area is flat and woth no trees at all and divided in two separate rows. The Mustang Island State Park provides easy access towards the beach as it has beach which is about 100-110 yards from these sites.
At one side of Mustang Island State Park, you can find spacious parking, clean portable toilets and refreshing showers.
Mustang Island State Park works on first-come, first-served basis. As camping can be done in 300 odd specially kept sites which have no major facility, but need not to worry as these are right on the beach. One can find few picnic tables on the beach. One should ask the rangers about the tide schedule as prior to camping in those sites.
One can enjoy biking along the beach side, swimming, flying kites. These sites provides perfect environment to have barbecue. The complete stretch of 5 odd miles along the open beach is perfect of activities like hiking, mountain-biking. With all happening around, you’ll still have abundance of space for your own beach tables/chairs and toys.
The Mustang Island State Park is known for its complicated and unique ecosystem which is largely due to the presence of the sand dunes. However one can safely choose this destination for a weekend getaway if one is looking for a calm relaxed time in a park where the natural surroundings have been kept intact. Situated between the cities of Port Aransas and Corpus Christi, the Mustang Island State Park spreads across an expanse of around five miles.
The park boasts of numerous recreational activities, which are best enjoyed during the fall and spring seasons. One can choose to go bird watching or fishing, or if one is more inclined towards exploring the wilderness of nature, one can go camping, hiking or mountain biking on the open beach, or better still, one may want to venture into the water with activities like surfing and kayaking. Other popular family activities which one can enjoy in the park include building sand castles, making bonfires, beachcombing to find those colorful spectacular shells, barbecue grills and picnic tables etc.
The park also has facilities which prove to be tremendously convenient like a park store which has as its offerings, souvenirs, firewood, snacks, etc, shower and bathing facilities. |
